Writing and self-producing from a young age and collaborating with notable artists such as Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Common, Ty, Leon Ware and Robert Glasper. Omars first album was released on family run label - Kongo Records in 1990, which gained attention from the Talkin Loud founders Gilles Peterson and Norman Jay MBE. Omar joined the label for his second album release which saw him slot in comfortably with other legends on the early 90s British Acid-jazz scene, such as Galliano, Young disciples and Incognito, gaining Omar the title to some, as the British father of Neo-soul.
On the night Omar will be performing live with his full band, showcasing exceptional features from special guests. The night will traverse on a musical journey of Omars classic tracks, exclusives and new material from his 8th studio album, Love in beats. The album released earlier this year on Freestyle Records; has been highly received among critics claiming the influential artist to be at the peak of his career. The album spans genres of British Hip-hop, futuristic funk, uplifting soul and hints of cosmic jazz.
This is an album of a labour of love between myself and my Grammy award winning brother The Scratch Professor. It is filled with powerful songs and mesmerising beats that is Omar music and my brothers sound, it is truly Love in Beats
